St. Louis, Missouri–The St Louis University Women’s Soccer team faced off against George Washington Sunday for the Atlantic 10 Championship. The weather couldn’t have been much better especially considering the weather that the Billikens played in Friday in their semi-final game. The Billikens dominated the time of possession in the first half, keeping the play in the GW end of the field throughout the half. GW committed two fouls in the penalty area which led to two Billiken penalty kicks that were converted by Hanna Friedrich and Alli Klug that gave the Billikens a 2-0 lead.
Later in the first half Emily Groark scored her first Billiken career goal on an assist from Hanna Friedrich.
George Washington scored late in the second half but it wasn’t enough as the Billikens won 3-1 to claim their second straight A10 title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Billikens will find out who their first opponent will be during the NCAA Selection Show at 3:30 pm on Monday.
Senior Midfielder Courtney Reimer was named the Most Outstanding Player of the A10 Tournament as well as being named to the All Championship Team. Teammates Emma Farley, Hanna Friedrich, Alli Klug and Mary Niehaus joined Courtney on the All Championship Team.
