COLUMBIA, Missouri. – Mizzou Football held practice on Faurot Field Thursday morning during the 15th day of #MIZCAMP17. Head coach Barry Odom said he felt the decision to rest on Wednesday was a good one, especially after seeing the effort of his players in today’s practice.

“[We] had one of our better practices across the board,” Odom said. “The rest helped us, we got a lot out of yesterday for sure. I liked the way we worked today. We’re 16 days out. Our guys are continuing to feel the urgency on how much better we have to get between now and then to get ready to go.”

That urgency is felt especially by junior DT Terry Beckner Jr. and sophomore DT Markell Utsey, both of whom are returning from knee injuries sustained during last year’s action.

“Being healthy is a great feeling,” Beckner said. “A day I’ve been looking forward too, coming back from those injuries. I’ve just been waiting for my body to feel like it’s good again, and now, it’s going feel good to go back out there with my brothers. I’ll always love the game, but coming off those two injuries, I have some more love for it, most definitely.”

Utsey has made himself into a breakout star this fall, and he says a majority of that success, comes from his hard work, rehabbing his injury with Beckner.

“Terry’s like a big brother to me,” Utsey said. “We were close before, but when we both got injured, during the whole rehab process we were in there, everyday, working together and motivating each other. We got real close. There’s a lot of things that he can do and teach me, so we just were always there motivating each other, and staying on top of each other to get ready for this season.”

Mizzou will return for another day of practice tomorrow before returning to Memorial Stadium Saturday evening for the second scrimmage of Fall Camp.
